For a low cost, I am really happy I got this for her. She is so stubborn about doing everything for herself and doesn't ask for help, so I tried to help in the way I could by providing this book to help fill her days for the next few weeks. I highly recommend others to do the same if they are considering it.

I expected most of the jokes in this book would be familiar to me. Much to my surprise, nearly every single one was new to me!That could be just a function of a failing memory, but whether or not I had previously read any of them, these jokes got a lot of laughter out of me. They are all good, clean G-rated humor, suitable for sharing around the dinner table... or they would have been, if my wife had let me.Everybody needs a good laugh once in a while. This book is a great place to go for that laugh. I absolutely insist that everybody should get a copy of this book, if not for your health, at least for your peace of mind. Nothing puts stress in its place quite like a good hearty laugh.As with any collection of jokes, there will be examples that you won't find funny, and others your friends won't find funny. BUT... and this is a big but (no, that wasn't a joke), out of more than 1,000 jokes, just imagine how many you WILL find humorous! Statistically speaking, the odds are phenomenal that you will find yourself laughing at a great many of these jokes. When you look at it that way, how can you resist this sales pitch?You will find yourself repeating many of these jokes around the water cooler at work, or in your email correspondences. But a word of warning... if your friends or co-workers start to turn the other way whenever they see you coming, maybe you should back off with sharing the jokes quite so much. Some folks just don't have a sense of humor.

I love the whole series of laughter books from Readers Digest. A few years ago I bought them for my husband. He didn't read them then. I did. And now he has. We both re-read them and enjoy them every time. Someone borrowed them and did not return them and I just bought them again.

I have no idea how I was lucky enough to get this gem free on my Kindle, but I'm so happy I did! This is the perfect book to pick up and read for a few minutes every day for some comic relief. It's a great mix of cartoons, comics, one-liners and jokes. I haven't seen anything dirty or offensive, just good, clean jokes. There's a lot packed in to it! Here are a few examples:-A junior manager, senior manager and their boss were on their way to a lunch meeting. In the cab they found a lamp. The boss rubbed it, and a genie appeared. "I'll grant you one wish each," the genie said. Grabbing the lamp from his boss, the eager senior manager shouted, "I want to be on a fast boat in the Bahamas with no worries." And poof, he was gone. The junior manager couldn't keep quiet. He shouted, "I want to be in Miami, with beautiful girls, food and cocktails." And poof, he was gone. Finally it was the boss's turn. "I want those idiots back in the office after lunch."-When I overheard one of my cashiers tell a customer, "We haven't' had it for a while, and I doubt we'll be getting it soon," I quickly assured the customer that we would have whatever it was she wanted by next week. After she left, I read the cashier the riot act. "Never tell the customer that we're out of anything. Tell them we'll have it next week," I instructed her. "Now, what did she want?" "Rain"There's just a few I quickly found and laughed at. That's a small example of what's in this hilarious book. Absolutely worth the free download and I would've gladly paid $10 or less for it. It would be a great little gift to give someone.

I write a lot on my "Felix at Fifty" blog, often with great nostalgia, about growing up in the 1970s - and here is another opportunity for all of us aging Baby Boomers to reminisce a bit, and with a smile on our face, to boot! When I was a kid, everybody subscribed to Reader's Digest. We kids largely ignored the boring articles, but we lived for the funny stuff - Laughter, the Best Medicine, Humor in Uniform, etc. We laughed out loud. We told each other those clean, innocent jokes on the playground (what a different time the Seventies were). As an aspiring writer, at the age of ten, I even sent RD a few jokes for consideration (I think they paid $50 back then if they used your joke - an enormous amount of money to a ten year old, especially in 1970s dollars!)... Anyway, Laughter Really Is The Best Medicine: America's Funniest Jokes, Stories, and Cartoons offers a terrific opportunity not only to reminisce about the simpler times of our youth, but also to find lots of not-too-challenging, clean jokes you can safely tell at the office, or use to add entertainment value to speeches, sermons, staff meetings, etc. Great stuff!

I usually hate joke books. Purchased this for someone going through some health problems. Looked through it before gifting it, and surprisingly I found it very funny! Some of the jokes were a bit corny, but still funny! The person I gave it to loved it.

The book does an excellent job of describing the places and countries to go for wildlife viewing in Africa. It also provides categories of available lodging with basic descriptions of activities available (ie night safaris, safari walks, etc.). Maps show where the lodges and camps are located in and near the various national parks, and many of the lodges have photos of the facility in the book. A safari company organized our trip, but the book enabled us to ask about other locations, things to do, and places to go. The book was invaluable for for our planning, and will be taken on the trip.

Bought this for background to prepare for my African safaris. This covered much of the area I was traveling and it gives a great starting point for planning and insight. Beautiful pictures. Although this book was used, it was "brand new" and appreciate the seller's description. My only issue with the book is that due to its size/weight, it is too big to take on safari, so you need a smaller safari guide for the floral/fauna and park guides.

I'll try and come back to post a more thorough review at a late point. Just wanted to get the 5 stars up because this book is excellent. Very detailed. Even the continent on the front is 3d embossed! Nice book, TONS of valuable info. I just bought about a dozen books for a safari Im planning on taking and this book may be the best of them.

Very disapointing purchase. Spend $21 and will not continue reading. Very shallow information. No real insights on wildlife, countries and people. Would get more valuable information on wikitravel or similar online portals. It reads like a marketing brochuren to disneyland. It is sad to see that literature on africa is on such a basic level and gets published.

Extremely informative in helping us to plan our trip to South Africa.It helped us come up with our itinerary. We're also using the Africa Adventure Company, owned by the writer of this book, to help us every step of the way especially for our Safari and Capetown visits!

Very helpful to me since I have not traveled much as to what to expect. Much info on each area of Aftica. Easy to read and the temperature charts were a good way to help decide when to go.

There may indeed be helpful information in this book, but the choppy, ill-organized layout rife with grammatical errors was frustrating to read. Worse, the author operates a travel agency specializing in African travel and uses this book to advertise his services every few pages. The blatant solicitation makes me wonder how much - if any - of his information is unbiased.

This book can help you make money. How? It reviews the history of spreads between Treasuries and Municipals, between Treasuries and Junk bonds, and between Treasuries and other types of bonds/securities. By buying the appropriate security when the spread is abnormally large by a wide margin, which admittedly may only occur once every ten years or so, I believe one could make a ton of money. An example would be to buy junk bonds when the spread between junk and treasuries exceeds 1200 basis points. Another example would be to buy municipals if their yield surpasses the treasury benchmark. Patience will be required, though, since, as the author points out, it is tough to make a killing in the bond market all the time (i.e. the market is usually highly efficient).The author also does a terrific job pointing out the different types of risk (reinvestment, inflation, currency, interest rates, credit, etc.) for all the different types of securities and duration of securities. She then tells you how to select a security appropriate for your needs given the risks. For example, if you don't want to worry about a rise in rates destroying the value of your bond, buy one that you can hold to maturity and collect at par. Better yet, buy one with a short duration.In conclusion, any well rounded financier needs to know about bonds--even Warren Buffet--the famous "stock picker"--invests a ton in bonds. This book is a great start to earning this skill.

This is the BEST bond book I have ever read. The information is well organized and easy to follow without being "dumbed down" for the reader. I belong to an investment group and have recommended this book to all the members. Most have read the book and agree it is a valuable resource - and most of these people are not investing novices.My copy of the book is well worn - I go back to it time and again.

You should read this one even if you ultimately decide that bonds aren't for you. Investment curiosities like bonds and stock moving in opposite directions, how inflation is addressed in the bond market, how to purchase treasuries without a commission, what it may mean for the economy when long term bonds are returning a lower yield than short term securities, and the power of compound interest are just a few of the topics discussed in enough depth that you will probably enjoy a whole lot better understanding of the financial markets than ever before.

I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in bonds, or for those who wish to enter the financial services industry. I had a difficult time putting this book down; the content was amazing.Bonds are an important asset class to own, regardles of the current interest rates or stock market performance. You will gain a lot of knowledge either for your own informational needs or professional use.

Former student of finance, who felt my knowledge on this subject had gotten far too rusty after several years. Found myself underlining and highlighting some of the key learnings as if I was back in the academia once again. Great book to understand the basics of bonds.

Individual investors need to know how the Fed and the entire fixed income market work. This book is a solid introduction to that market as it competes and impacts investing in equities and other assets.
