This is an excellent book for someone wanting to know about industrial electricity . If you are starting out new or with less experience , this is the book for you ! Book covers practically all aspects of industrial electricity . Excellent text material and illustrations . Deals with National Electric Code also for technical people and applications and troubleshooting for electricians . One of the few books that combines theory with practice and shows clearly the different practices in the electrical industry . This review written in 2009 and this book has all the latest technologies and know-hows in the industry . If you work or plan to work in the electrical industry , this book is essential reading . Highly recommended .

Outdated. Poorly written and edited. This is the single worst technical reference book I have ever purchased.

I purchased this book to help me learn more about industrial electrical systems. It's very informative and helped me during my apprenticeship with licensed electricians at the plant where I work. It covers many relay logic and reading old school ladder diagrams, which is useful to maintenance personnel who work in a facility that is not technologically up to date.

This is a good basic book, not more technical than it needs to be. Deals with the mechanisms that an industrial electrician will encounter without overwhelming the student.

It is esentially the same book I had in my motor and controls class 26 years ago it needs alittle updating still a very good basic book on motor controls..

I was in the HVAC field, and this book goes over a lot of topics regarding motors and controls. Is well written and explains topics thoroughly.

Through Safari books online, I have access to the digital version of this book. Although I liked the examples chosen, I doubt the author bother to compile the code listed in the book. The code through the publisher's github account, although similar, is not the code in the book.Pros:* Examples are not your typical examples.Cons:* Lack of background when working through a task* Lots of missing code in header definitions.* Lots of coding mistakes (spelling mistakes, namespace issues. variable names, etc.)Overall I'm glad I didn't have to purchase this book.

I've been scanning through books on Packt through my membership and came across this one and it was an excellent reference on so many levels.1. it describes and links to QT core fundamentals that you need2. it has full blown projects right down to design aspects, no half baked code with impoortant designs dismissed as "trivial" here. This book gets into the dirty details at a much deeper level.3. SEVERAL different considerations are made as projects are pursued and the design is justified piece by piece. This allows you to decide what works for you.4. as a bonus, i found the author on slack and he's easy to talk to and discuss withThere is one minor con. Not all the project work as they are. you need to make small changes to get things working, but its totally doable and nothing really had me spending more than a a few minutes that wasn't working. For that I took a star off. The book could have used another look by someone who followed everything through it.Still, if you're starting with QT and aren't sure about a chunk of it, this book can serve (along with some documentation) as a complete guide to getting started. Highly recommend
