Spoiler.Find the chars motivations a bit retarded, for example, they have a perfect example that this world is not a game and you can die for real, and the dont spend a couple of days to get Gilly from lvl 80 to 85. Why? What is a couple of days? It is also a bit annoying how Maxis, the person whos survived the longest is made to look clueless, everyone else seems to treat the world as a game, when death is real.I enjoyed the story but not as much as the first book, i will buy the next book in the series just to see how the story goes.
Came into this book expecting it be good, considering how much I liked the first one. Definitely met and exceeded my expectations. Once again I found myself upset that it ended when it did, I wanted more. Love the twist on a "normal" rpg, and cant wait to see what happens next
The book starts right after the previous one. The plot gets more complicated and some things about how the world works are not very well explained. It's supposed to be a mystery, but it's making difficult to connect to this real-world/game hybrid. It’s a really big divergence from the story of the first one; some plot points are still there, but the mechanics of the world and the game changed a lot. As the story advances is getting more difficult to suspend all disbelief and just take the strange setup as it is.Nonetheless, the story is good, and the action and pace are great. The characters keep developing and advancing, there are more and better interactions between them.At the end there is a huge cliffhanger, it’s very annoying that this books are being released as a serialization novel and not as individual books that are part of a series.
Enjoyable read, just wasn’t a fan of the way it ended. Yes the book did hint a lot at something like that happening but I wish it would have explained how the time difference will work, citadel vs surface vs labyrinth. Well don’t want to give more then that away but yeah how exactly is it going to work because I don’t see anything that logically works.
Another excellent book. I enjoyed both books, but as a lot of background was introduced in the first book, this book has more action and adventure. A great read and hard to put down! I’m ready for book 3 and the Labyrinth now.For those who have not played an RPG online, that is not a requirement and the story is still very enjoyable. Though, it can add some slightly greater appreciation for some of the action scenes. :)
After the first book I was so so on this series. However this book was outstanding. It moved along at a great pace, the story is richly detailed and developed, the characters are engaging and have a good depth to them.The plot raises some unusual twists and turn, plus the use of multi pull games styles is a nice change.On the whole a great improvement and am eagerly awaiting the next in the series
This is one of those books you love so much you want it to keep going forever. I kept looking at my reading progress with growing distress as I neared the end. The massively expanded world is amazing, as are the multiple story lines and mega cliff hanging ending.Rick. Ill buy you the coffee... you just keep on writing bro!!
A great book that shed light on many of the mysteries hinted at the first book.My only complaint is that I felt that it took a step back from being a LitRPG book and concentrated more on the story itself.Still awesome though, you should definitely pick it up!
