For any 1L (or lawyer), this is an INCREDIBLE real property supplement. I learned so much through the plain language and straightforward layout. I read every single page, so I can honestly say that it is completely worth it. Property is complicated, and vocabulary is imperative to understand, and this book does a great job teaching (and reminding) you of what everything means.

1L in law school? Need a refresher for the bar? Confuddled by property? Try this. I got one for Contracts and it was amazing. This one is no different.

This is not a required book for 1L property at University of Wyoming, College of Law....BUT! It makes a HUGE difference. Easier to follow the class and understand the elements of the concepts! Professor Romero is a great teacher and this book makes understanding difficult concepts very easy!

For the past twenty-five years, Captain Dan Willis has been a police officer for the La Mesa Police Department near San Diego, California. I am a Firefighter/Paramedic who teaches on Firefighter Behavioral Health and Suicide Awareness. I also deal with man tragedies of my own through work and just day to day life. This book is an amazing book teaching on ways to help yourself so you can continue to help others. It also gives many amazing testimonials that touch deeply to the soul. This book is great for Police, Fire, EMS, and I would think Doctors and Nurses as well. I bought this book used and it came in great condition. One last thing, remember that you are STRONGEST when you can recognize the need for help!

This book is a must read for any first responder in my opinion. I attended a presentation by the author and both it and the book are very informative. I didn't understand why I was having some of the feelings I was having or what to do about them and how to help myself. After reading this book I have a better understanding. It really explains how the stress affects our bodies and gives ways to help.

Borrowing heavily from the themes in Gilmartin's "Emotional Survival," Bulletproof Spirit is well written and laid out, particularly in the important areas of warning signs of emotional distress, the signs and symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the efficacy of peer support programs. The limitations of peer support programs, particularly when it comes to "confidentiality," are explained well. The text is punctuated with excellent stories of critical incident trauma survivors, although the book unfortunately makes only brief reference to "cumulative" trauma among first responders. The dangers and types of maladaptive coping techniques are clearly laid out. Considerable emphasis is placed on an interesting program called "Beyond Survival Toward Officer Wellness" (or BeSTOW), an FBI program endorsed by the International Association of Chiefs of Police and which serves as an example of planning for a departmental wellness program, including peer support, an employee assistance program, a chaplaincy program and physical fitness standards.The book endorses the "Mitchell Model" of critical incident stress debriefing, a topic that is now under considerable debate--some maintain that more harm than good is done to the potentially traumatized victim.Of particular interest in Bulletproof Spirit, however, is its encouragement of annual "mental health checkups," by which an officer seeks out and visits a therapist once a year to review the past year, see what has worked and what hasn't, and plan for the next year. This is, perhaps, the most significant part of the book and is crucial to first responders in these critical times. Waiting until one actually "needs help" is simply too late.Some may find the book's passages on spirituality, faith, God and prayer to be somewhat uncomfortable, but the author attempts to couch these teachings in a "universal" manner. Similarly, the book focuses on the role of chaplains in the emergency services, noting their required credentials and training while emphasizing their benefits to first responders in terms of confidentiality.All in all, Bulletproof Spirit is a "good read" for those working (or retired) as first responders.

Captain Dan Willis has written a solid career survival manual for all First Responders by providing a long over-due guide in placing strategic "resilience kevlar" over the real human emotions which all too often morph into accumulative compassion fatigue. Exceptionally readable, thought provoking and spot-on. Should be required reading for all First Responders, Field Training Officers and the bosses.

The â€˜CornBread Mafiaâ€™ is a compelling read for anyone interested in the Marijuana sub-culture, or â€˜true crimeâ€™ stories in general.James Higdon lays out the story brick by brick, plant by plant, dollar for dollar in a fluid and descriptive manner, with literary skills that would make even the most competent word-smith envious.As I read the book I was immersed into the life of the Northern Kentucky dope grower as he stood in a cornfield tending some of the best Mary-Jane this country has to offer. I felt what it was like to walk in their shoes so much so that I actually wanted to be one, and were it not for the fact that I would have to bust myself in the mouth to understand what it was like trying to eat corn off the cob with no teeth, I would have. As I stepped from page to page on this journey through the world of Marijuana and Moonshine, it was almost like I could smell a freshly rolled joint smoking crisply between my fingers; oh wait, that was a freshly rolled joint smoking crisply between my fingers, lol.It was part history, part comedy, with a few streaks of insanity so well compiled that it will leave you staggering like George Jones taking a sobriety test.It was an informative, well written, historically based book which will give you a good look into the life of a Marijuana distributor in the great state of Kentucky, a state where the only thing higher than the taxes, are the citizens.

Hands down, James Higdon's "Cornbread Mafia" is one of the best true crime books I've ever read, bringing to life the colorful history of Marion County and its metamorphosis from dissident Catholic enclave to moonshiner's and bootlegger's central to the place that made American pot synonymous with Kentucky Bluegrass.In this respect, the book is less an examination of a particular criminal or criminal cartel, but instead a cultural history of a particular place and its peculiar brand of crime. Although the central figures of "Cornbread Mafia" are marijuana gang chieftans Johnny Boone, Bobby Joe Shewmaker, and Jimmy Bickett, Higdon's real strength is laying out the two century history of Marion County. In doing so, the author vividly creates for the reader a culture that fostered outlaws with a insular, backcountry code of silence that would put even the Mafia in their heyday to shame. Another major treat is the intersection with characters of "the Bluegrass Conspiracy"The book is not without its warts (a DC-3 is a twin-engined place, for example, not four), but these are minor and are not what some reviewers chose to focus on. I've read a few comments about how this book is for "Kentucky insiders," a claim I reject with prejudice. While I am a Kentuckian, I wonder if those readers would say the same thing about such a colorful cultural history of crime in Staten Island, NYC or the South Side of Chicago. Their beef isn't with the lively and detailed background provided by Higdon, but with its unfamiliar rural setting. Basically, they are complaining about being shown a new and different place, so one wonders why they are reading this or any book in the first place!Do you like true crime books about colorful neighborhoods or syndicates? Buy this book. Are you a Kentuckian who wants to learn more about one of the most interesting criminal episodes of modern history? Buy this book. It reads like a true crime version of "Justified."

Everyone else should enjoy it too, but for the above it is a must read. Those from small towns, the country over, can relate to this story; however, this is special. Many in the community were raising and selling a high-grade marijuana. They saw little wrong with growing pot, as it was not "Gods law," but a man-made law.The author is well equipped to tell the story as his father owned a local store. He names the people evolved and tells their story with relish.Evidently, some of the town's people do not care much for the story, as someone highjacked the first load of books heading to market. Do not miss it. I do not know the author nor have I ever met him, but I loved his book.

A very interesting book particularly for those who know this area of Kentucky. When legal, Kentucky was a center of hemp production in the United States. It's warm and humid climate is particularly suited to this plant and it's sisterMarijuana. The members of the so called Corn Bread Mafia were just regular folks who lost the jobs and found another way to make money becoming one of the largest suppliers in the US. This brought the wrath of the federal government and begs the question of why not try de criminalization. In fact Kentucky should at least consider permitting the cultivation of marijuana for export to States who permit medical and full use of this plant. Ky would go from a major illegal producer to legal status. This is the replacement of tobacco as the main cash crop and save many family farms.Please excuse my personal views and enjoy this read.

I purchased t his book because I was told about it and I was born in Kentucky. My cousin was engaged to a City Manager of Kentucky and he was Mafia. I've always been very interested in this way of life and the book was an excellent piece of information in which I enjoyed very much. The backwoods Kentucky people are to be treated respectively. They have their ways in dealing with people who do not respect them, and since there isn't much employment in certain areas, they are going to make their money any way they can. In some ways I can understand that. I grew up poor, however, my dad worked four jobs to keep a roof over our heads. I really enjoyed the book, others should, too. It's full of info about the way of living with these very special farm people! I loved the book! I'm ordering more books of the Kentucky Mafia.

It looks like I've owned this book now for 11 years, it sure doesn't seem like I've had it for that long. It comes off my shelf for special occasions more than any other cookbook in my collection. In fact, we just used it again for three courses for our big Christmas dinner for friends. I can't say enough good things about this book so I'll try to point out some highlights. The Goat Cheese Tart has been a huge hit at three Christmas parties over the years. The Indonesian Gingered Chicken just made it's umpteenth appearance but this time as an Amuse Bouche to rave reviews and requests for the recipe at our Christmas table this year. The Chocolate Buttercream Cake was our dessert choice and everyone loved it. The roasted Tomato Soup was our soup course this year and people asked for some to take home. Over the years her salads have made repeated visits, especially her French Potato Salad. We've made several of the soup and appetizer courses and have tried the majority of her dinner ideas. The desserts are always welcome as well. I think that other reviewers have pointed out that this may be the best in her collections and I agree. We own a couple more of her books but this is the one that I always check first when I'm looking for something really good for ourselves or for our guests.

I love to cook, it is one of my greatest pleasures. I love food, learning new recipes, serving people dinner - from fancy get togethers, to a casual meal - and the one constant I always go back to are Ina Garten's cookbooks. The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook, themed to give readers top recipes from her now-closed gourmet store in The Hamptons, is absolutely no exception.First, the photographs in the book are amazing. They show beautiful meals of completed recipes, as well as some concerning choosing the freshest ingredients, preparing a recipe, and setting the table. Instead of making one feel intimidated or lacking because you don't have a 1,000 square foot kitchen of your own, they are inspiring, and make you excited to try each new recipe. Second, the food is, simply, divine. While there are some very creative and new recipes, many of the recipes are classics with a few new twists, that truly elevate the food. My favorite recipe in the book - as you can tell from my photograph how dirty the page is from me cooking it over and over - is the recipe for Filet of Beef Bourguignon. Ina took a Julia Child classic recipe and cut out a few hours of cooking time by using filets of beef. Truly delicious and so much easier to prepare. Serve it for your next dinner party, and you will get nothing but raves.

I have several of Ina's other books, but I seem to make and re-make things out of this cookbook more than the others combined. There's a great spinach pie recipe in here as well as a vegetable torte that I make regularly because I like a solid vegetable entre I can eat on all week with a salad. I make the spinach pie with a spaghetti squash crust rather than using pastry, thereby getting another vegetable serving and avoiding gluten.

I've had this cookbook for years -- almost since it was first published. I love it. I have used so many of the recipes and go back to them over time. The recipes are good, easy to prepare and very thoroughly tested for the average cook. Several friends are as hooked on BC as I am. We use her cookbooks for everyday and as a source of ideas for holidays, family dinners, parties -- everything.

This book is more than a cooking book,it is a pleasure to read and get to know Ina better. The pictures are stunning, the recipes easy to read, understand and follow, in short it is probably the best cooking book I ever read. Every recipe seems easy. I already tried the ProvenÃ§al potato salad and it was simple and so delicious and fresh. I can't wait to try the rest. I have made lots of Ina's recipes which I got from the Food Network, and all are super great recipes, so I know her recipes are fool proof and delicious. I will be buying many more of her books. Love her, this woman can cook! Oh, and there are tips that are super helpful on almost every recipe.

All of Ina's cookbooks are terrific. This one is a culinary thrill for me having vacationed in Paris.My friends wonder where I get the know how to put on party after party every time with such sucess and skill.I keep Ina as my little secret !

I bought this cookbook based on the recommendation of Jennifer Garner in an Oprah magazine. Jennifer likes Ina Garten's recipes because they produce great tasting food without a lot of work but also aren't simplified to the point of being ridiculous. The example she used of oversimplification was recipes that call for something like Cheez Whiz.This cookbook includes some really wonderful recipes, but it is also a celebration of great food. I urge you to read more than just the recipes. Ina covers the importance of high quality fresh ingredients. The photos throughout the book are beautiful and instructions easy to follow. Although I know my way around the kitchen, I appreciate the photos showing how Ina defines mince, chop, and dice. Ina even shares how to make your own vanilla extract.In the past week I've made roasted carrots, homemade applesauce, roasted baby pumpkins, fingerling potatoes, homemade granola, and cranberry harvest muffins. Everything has been wonderful. The cranberry harvest muffin recipe itself is worth the price of the book.Over the last few years, I lost my interest in cooking. This book has inspired me to get back into it again.

There is a universal law of human behavior: You cannot argue another person into believing that they are wrong. The more you push another person, the more they dig their heels in and resist youâ€¦ There is a better way. Rather than attempting to overcomeâ€”defeating or prevailing over your prospectâ€”you should disrupt their expectations and thought patterns when they push back with a no. The key is a disruptive statement or question that turns them around so that they lean toward you rather than move away from away from youâ€¦ When they say they're busy, instead of arguing them into how you will only take a little bit of their time, say, â€œI figured you would be.â€ Agreeing with them disrupts their thought patternâ€¦ When they say, â€œJust send me some information,â€ say, â€œTell me specifically what you are looking for.â€ This calls their bluff and forces engagementâ€¦ When they say, â€œI'm not interested,â€ say, â€œThat makes sense. Most people aren't.â€ Their brain isn't ready for you to agree with themâ€¦ One phrase you want to avoid is â€œI understand.â€ When you use the phrase â€œI understand,â€ you sound just like every other schmuck who uses this phrase as insincere filler so they can get back to pitching. It demonstrates zero empathy and tells your prospect that you are not listening and don't care.â€12. The salespeople-help-salespeople hack is an awesome secret weapon.â€13. â€œTruly effective salespeople understand that it is all about asking the prospect the right questions and demonstrating that you can help them solve a particular problem or issue.â€14. Don't send bulk e-mail. Prospecting e-mail is one to one. It is one e-mail from your address sent to one individual, one e-mail at a timeâ€¦ Avoid attaching imagesâ€¦ Avoid hyperlinksâ€¦ never use â€œHiâ€ or â€œHelloâ€ or â€œDearâ€ or any other salutation in front of your prospect's name. No one in business does that except salespeople. â€œHi __â€ is a complete turnoff for prospects.â€

This is a tough book for me to rate, because how much you get out of it really depends on your prior experience in reading sales books. I'm a completely scatterbrained prospector. I bought this book hoping to find information on many forms of prospecting, and how to bring it all together into a structure. After spending the money, and reading the book cover to cover, I can tell you what I found is a ton of motivational speaking with prospecting tips scattered about. You'll learn some good ideas about scripting for the phone, and in person cold calling. You'll get some good thoughts about using social media as leverage. And you'll get some information about time blocking your prospecting activities. If you have never read a book on prospecting and selling, this is a really nice all in one resource. If you've read a bunch of sales self help books, you likely won't find anything new here. With 320 pages, I felt for sure there would be a chapter on bringing it all together, like 'A day in the life of a fanatical prospector', to give the reader a sample framework in which to form a basis to change how they prospect. That's what I needed, as I'm pretty good with scripting, but my overall time management and flow of the multiple prospecting mediums sucks. That isn't in this book.So whether you think it's worth the money really depends on what you've read to this point. If this is your first sales book, and you are brand new to sales, it's a great place to start. If you've read a lot of other sales books, don't spend the money.An additional note: I'm getting a little frustrated with the fact that there are more and more books loaded with compensated reviewers on Amazon. Even more frustrating is how it seems like all of these sales self help authors endorse each other every time a book comes out. For example, Jill Koranth endorses seemingly every sales book that hits the market. And in exchange, she gets a shout out to her own stuff somewhere in said endorsed book.
