I bought this book purely, because I admire Sayraphim as an artist, activist, and human being. I was rewarded greatly!Sayraphim's activism is broad and approachable. The book is a joy to flip through on days where you feel confident, but also days when you are feeling tired or low. My favourite parts of the book (other than food related parts, YUM) are about recycling and repairing. Sayraphim's instructions are joyous and flexible.I am also happy with the thickness of the cover, as it easy easy to flop open, and have it stay on the page you're looking at, while you follow whatever instructions are written there. Cookbooks should be like this!This book will get plenty of use from me and my friends, way in to the future!

For those of us who like to think outside the box, Sayraphim Lothian's craft book is perfect. Craftivism is exactly what it sounds like, Crafting combined with Activism, and Ms. Lothian gives many examples from of many different types of craft projects to be made, from a modified version of the Guerrilla Kindness Cupcakes that can be left in a public place as a gift for a stranger to her knitted protest dolls based on famous women. There's instructions for each project along with a detailed, usually historical, explanation of why she chose to illustrate the project in a particular way. Cork is part Anishinaabe Indian, has friends and mentors in the tribe, but has been the sheriff of Aurora enforcing white men's laws. After a confrontation between whites and natives that caused him to kill a white resort owner, he lost a recall election. He has been deeply grieving which caused him to lose his marriage.Cork has started a new relationship with Molly Nurmi but hasn't given up hope of rebuilding his marriage to Jo in order to keep his relationship with his children. When a woman in town asks him to help locate her missing son, Cork finds himself in an investigation that leads to the death of a prominent and heartily disliked judge, Minnesota militant groups, Indian casinos, and small town corruption and secrets.I liked the setting. I liked Cork who was a man who fought for justice more than he fought for the law. I'll be reading more of the series which has now reached sixteen books.

This is the first book in the series featuring former Sheriff Cork O'Connor. This book was written in 2004 so it is older but still a great series. I'm in the 5th book now and have really liked them all. They are very interesting, suspenseful and the story line is always well thought out. It has some twists and turns that keep you guessing but generally you can pick out the bad guys or think you have picked them out before you really know. It certainly didn't take away from the story at all just made it a little more interesting. I would definitely recommend reading the series.

I loved this book. The story itself seemed to fall together slowly and at times it was dragging, but then all hell broke loose. The few clues became an avalanche of clues pointing towards....who?I had a difficult time putting this down during the last hundred pages. If you like the Alex McKnight books you will enjoy these.

Damn this is a good book. Hard to believe it's his first effort. Well done William. When I wasn't reading this book, I was thinking about it and wishing I was. Slowed my reading down at the end to make it last longer. Good stuff.

An excellent story built around crimes in the small town of Aurora, Minnesota which borders a Native American reservation and casino. Cork O' Connor, the newly "unelected" sheriff takes it upon himself to discover why a young boy is missing and who killed the retired Judge. If you're looking for a "Jack Reacher" type character this is NOT the book for you, but if you like a good solid crime story and well-developed characters you may find, like I did, that you can't put this book down. Looking forward to reading more of this series.

I am a new fan of Cork O'Connor. He is ruff and tough but also tender and caring. His concern for his children and their welfare is admirable. And, the geese, a man after my own heart. He is so likable. He reminds me a bit of Jack Reacher, the early years.Next, I really enjoyed the Indian lore and the winter setting in Minnesota. Both the lore and the setting were interesting, colorful and informative.The plot was not very complex but it was suspenseful. And the villains were more stereotypical than unusual. I also liked the fact that the confrontations and chases did not go on forever and ever like in some wilderness mysteries I have read.The primary reason I kept turning pages was the relationships Cork had in his life. And those relationships are the reason I will continue on with the series.

A friend sent me the list of Williams books and said she was certain I would like them.I do...been reading non stop and am on #5 at present.They are full of mystery and also Indian folk lore. SUPER fun.

This is a well written story first, a reasonably good mystery second. The characters are well written and believable. As the author takes you through the book, he gives the readers a good snapshot of life and politics on a current day American Indian reservation. The plot is good, if a little complex to follow. Definitely a great book for vacation reading!

I gave it a 3 for my experience. From a cost to usefulness ratio the kindle edition for 3$ was fine, sort of. All thi info I already read online from a TD Ameritrade youtube vids and help guides. Had I paid 20$ for this I would have been furious. Only if the internet did not exist is this book of any use. Really curious about the other reviews now frankly. Nothing stood out and had to research some terms used that he did not explain. I have yet to make a single investment into a stock etc and only been curious a year or so, I would certainly consider myself brand new but a few google searches and this book is of no use. But it's 3$ kept me occupied on half a sunday.

I was able to learn how to start investing in mutual funds. Author provided all necessary information from creating an account. I really found the answers to the questions that interested me on this topic. Of course, in order to take such responsible steps, you need to make informed decisions and have the knowledge that I got from this book.

About the Author

Dathan Rush is the Associate Director of the Family, Infant and Preschool Program (FIPP) at Western Carolina Center and a research associate at the Orelena Hawks Puckett Institute in Morganton, North Carolina. Prior to accepting his position at FIPP, Mr. Rush was a clinical assistant professor and personnel development consultant in the Lee Mitchener Tolbert Center for Developmental Disabilities at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. He served as Assistant Director of the Oklahoma SoonerStart Early Intervention Program at the State Department of Health from 1992 to 1999. He served as an editorial board member of the journal Infants and Young Children until 2002 and has published articles in the areas of in-service training, coaching, supporting children and families in natural learning environments, and teaming in early intervention. He is past president and former executive council member of the Oklahoma Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Mr. Rush has presented numerous workshops nationally on topics related to team building, use of a primary coach model of support, training of trainers, coaching, and provision of supports in natural environments. M'Lisa L. Shelden, PT, Ph.D., is Director of the Family, Infant and Preschool Program (FIPP) at Western Carolina Center and an associate research scientist at the Orelena Hawks Puckett Institute in Morganton, North Carolina. Prior to accepting her appointment at FIPP, Dr. Shelden was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Science at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She is a graduate Fellow of the ZERO TO THREE: National Center for Infants, Toddlers, and Families, and she has also served the Section of Pediatrics of the American Physical Therapy Association. She is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Early Intervention. Dr. Shelden has co-authored several articles related to early intervention teamwork and a chapter related to physical therapy personnel preparation. She presents nationally on topics related to transition, inclusion, coaching, evaluation and assessment, use of a primary coach model, and provision of supports in natural environments.

Our EI program is behind in using the coaching method. The state just put the pressure on. I had to withdrawal from my toy bag and felt so unsure how to proceed. State trainings just didn’t seem to help much. This book does, and I am so grateful!! I’ve only read a quarter of it, but I’m using the info and experiencing a lot of success. The parents have acclimated and seem to enjoy the change. I’ve spent nearly 20 years in early intervention so if this old dog can learn new tricks, so can you!! :-)

This is a great book for Early Interventionists working with parents in the home setting.

I had to buy this for a class. I think it is extremely beneficial in talking to parents/colleagues of students with disabilities as well as for Early Childhood professions. I recommend this.
