It looks like I've owned this book now for 11 years, it sure doesn't seem like I've had it for that long. It comes off my shelf for special occasions more than any other cookbook in my collection. In fact, we just used it again for three courses for our big Christmas dinner for friends. I can't say enough good things about this book so I'll try to point out some highlights. The Goat Cheese Tart has been a huge hit at three Christmas parties over the years. The Indonesian Gingered Chicken just made it's umpteenth appearance but this time as an Amuse Bouche to rave reviews and requests for the recipe at our Christmas table this year. The Chocolate Buttercream Cake was our dessert choice and everyone loved it. The roasted Tomato Soup was our soup course this year and people asked for some to take home. Over the years her salads have made repeated visits, especially her French Potato Salad. We've made several of the soup and appetizer courses and have tried the majority of her dinner ideas. The desserts are always welcome as well. I think that other reviewers have pointed out that this may be the best in her collections and I agree. We own a couple more of her books but this is the one that I always check first when I'm looking for something really good for ourselves or for our guests.

I love to cook, it is one of my greatest pleasures. I love food, learning new recipes, serving people dinner - from fancy get togethers, to a casual meal - and the one constant I always go back to are Ina Garten's cookbooks. The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook, themed to give readers top recipes from her now-closed gourmet store in The Hamptons, is absolutely no exception.First, the photographs in the book are amazing. They show beautiful meals of completed recipes, as well as some concerning choosing the freshest ingredients, preparing a recipe, and setting the table. Instead of making one feel intimidated or lacking because you don't have a 1,000 square foot kitchen of your own, they are inspiring, and make you excited to try each new recipe. Second, the food is, simply, divine. While there are some very creative and new recipes, many of the recipes are classics with a few new twists, that truly elevate the food. My favorite recipe in the book - as you can tell from my photograph how dirty the page is from me cooking it over and over - is the recipe for Filet of Beef Bourguignon. Ina took a Julia Child classic recipe and cut out a few hours of cooking time by using filets of beef. Truly delicious and so much easier to prepare. Serve it for your next dinner party, and you will get nothing but raves.

I have several of Ina's other books, but I seem to make and re-make things out of this cookbook more than the others combined. There's a great spinach pie recipe in here as well as a vegetable torte that I make regularly because I like a solid vegetable entre I can eat on all week with a salad. I make the spinach pie with a spaghetti squash crust rather than using pastry, thereby getting another vegetable serving and avoiding gluten.

I've had this cookbook for years -- almost since it was first published. I love it. I have used so many of the recipes and go back to them over time. The recipes are good, easy to prepare and very thoroughly tested for the average cook. Several friends are as hooked on BC as I am. We use her cookbooks for everyday and as a source of ideas for holidays, family dinners, parties -- everything.

This book is more than a cooking book,it is a pleasure to read and get to know Ina better. The pictures are stunning, the recipes easy to read, understand and follow, in short it is probably the best cooking book I ever read. Every recipe seems easy. I already tried the Provençal potato salad and it was simple and so delicious and fresh. I can't wait to try the rest. I have made lots of Ina's recipes which I got from the Food Network, and all are super great recipes, so I know her recipes are fool proof and delicious. I will be buying many more of her books. Love her, this woman can cook! Oh, and there are tips that are super helpful on almost every recipe.

All of Ina's cookbooks are terrific. This one is a culinary thrill for me having vacationed in Paris.My friends wonder where I get the know how to put on party after party every time with such sucess and skill.I keep Ina as my little secret !

I bought this cookbook based on the recommendation of Jennifer Garner in an Oprah magazine. Jennifer likes Ina Garten's recipes because they produce great tasting food without a lot of work but also aren't simplified to the point of being ridiculous. The example she used of oversimplification was recipes that call for something like Cheez Whiz.This cookbook includes some really wonderful recipes, but it is also a celebration of great food. I urge you to read more than just the recipes. Ina covers the importance of high quality fresh ingredients. The photos throughout the book are beautiful and instructions easy to follow. Although I know my way around the kitchen, I appreciate the photos showing how Ina defines mince, chop, and dice. Ina even shares how to make your own vanilla extract.In the past week I've made roasted carrots, homemade applesauce, roasted baby pumpkins, fingerling potatoes, homemade granola, and cranberry harvest muffins. Everything has been wonderful. The cranberry harvest muffin recipe itself is worth the price of the book.Over the last few years, I lost my interest in cooking. This book has inspired me to get back into it again.

Noticing the book was #1 on Amazon’s telemarketing best seller list, I ordered a copy and began reading with an open mind.The book, especially at the beginning and the very end, is about 50% standard sales motivation content covering well-trodden material like the amygdala/lizard brain, Amy Cuddy’s TED talk on body language, etc. However, the other 50% delivers very practical processes and templates that make the book one of the better sales books available. All told, I felt the book was a must read.Here is my summary of key-take-ways:1. Knowing that activity takes 90+ days to pay off, successful salespeople relentlessly fill their pipeline through a mixture of telephone, in-person, e-mail, social selling, text messaging, referrals, networking, inbound leads, trade shows, and cold calling.2. Here is the brutal truth: Salespeople who ignore the phone fail.”3. “Top performers organize their day into distinct time blocks dedicated to specific activities, concentrating their focus and eliminating distractions within those blocks… We schedule our prospecting blocks [on our calendars] into three “Power Hours” that are spread across the day—morning, midday, and afternoon.”4. “While setting an appointment is your primary objective with prospects you have already prequalified as potential buyers, gathering information is your primary objective with prospects you have not qualified.”5. “Our data and data that we've gathered and analyzed from a diverse set of sources indicate that it takes, on average: 1 to 3 touches to reengage an inactive customer 1 to 5 touches to engage a prospect who is in the buying window and is familiar with you and your brand 3 to 10 touches to engage a prospect who has a high degree of familiarity with you or your brand, but is not in the buying window 5 to 12 touches to engage a warm inbound lead 5 to 20 touches to engage a prospect who has some familiarity with you and your brand—buying window dependent 20 to 50 touches to engage a cold prospect who does not know you or your brand.”6. “The bottom line is people don't want to be pitched or “sold” on social media. They prefer to connect, interact, and learn. For this reason, the social channel is better suited to building familiarity, lead nurturing, research, nuanced inbound prospecting, and trigger-event awareness.”7. “Prospects meet with you for their reasons, not yours. You must articulate the value of spending time with you in the context of what is most important to them. Your message must demonstrate a sincere interest in listening to them, learning about them, and solving their unique problems.”8. “Just saying, “I'd like 15 minutes of your time because I want to learn more about you and your company” works surprisingly well with many prospects.”9. “When salespeople ask me when they should leave a voice mail, I always answer, “When it matters.”… Keep voice mail messages to 30 seconds.”10. “Timing Teleprospecting Calls Is a Losing Strategy… So, forget about timing your calls and commit instead to a daily, first-thing-in-the-morning call block.”11. “The feeling of rejection happens the moment you get a reflex response, brush-off, or objection (RBO)… Overcoming doesn't work. There is a universal law of human behavior: You cannot argue another person into believing that they are wrong. The more you push another person, the more they dig their heels in and resist you… There is a better way. Rather than attempting to overcome—defeating or prevailing over your prospect—you should disrupt their expectations and thought patterns when they push back with a no. The key is a disruptive statement or question that turns them around so that they lean toward you rather than move away from away from you… When they say they're busy, instead of arguing them into how you will only take a little bit of their time, say, “I figured you would be.” Agreeing with them disrupts their thought pattern… When they say, “Just send me some information,” say, “Tell me specifically what you are looking for.” This calls their bluff and forces engagement… When they say, “I'm not interested,” say, “That makes sense. Most people aren't.” Their brain isn't ready for you to agree with them… One phrase you want to avoid is “I understand.” When you use the phrase “I understand,” you sound just like every other schmuck who uses this phrase as insincere filler so they can get back to pitching. It demonstrates zero empathy and tells your prospect that you are not listening and don't care.”12. The salespeople-help-salespeople hack is an awesome secret weapon.”13. “Truly effective salespeople understand that it is all about asking the prospect the right questions and demonstrating that you can help them solve a particular problem or issue.”14. Don't send bulk e-mail. Prospecting e-mail is one to one. It is one e-mail from your address sent to one individual, one e-mail at a time… Avoid attaching images… Avoid hyperlinks… never use “Hi” or “Hello” or “Dear” or any other salutation in front of your prospect's name. No one in business does that except salespeople. “Hi __” is a complete turnoff for prospects.”

This is a tough book for me to rate, because how much you get out of it really depends on your prior experience in reading sales books. I'm a completely scatterbrained prospector. I bought this book hoping to find information on many forms of prospecting, and how to bring it all together into a structure. After spending the money, and reading the book cover to cover, I can tell you what I found is a ton of motivational speaking with prospecting tips scattered about. You'll learn some good ideas about scripting for the phone, and in person cold calling. You'll get some good thoughts about using social media as leverage. And you'll get some information about time blocking your prospecting activities. If you have never read a book on prospecting and selling, this is a really nice all in one resource. If you've read a bunch of sales self help books, you likely won't find anything new here. With 320 pages, I felt for sure there would be a chapter on bringing it all together, like 'A day in the life of a fanatical prospector', to give the reader a sample framework in which to form a basis to change how they prospect. That's what I needed, as I'm pretty good with scripting, but my overall time management and flow of the multiple prospecting mediums sucks. That isn't in this book.So whether you think it's worth the money really depends on what you've read to this point. If this is your first sales book, and you are brand new to sales, it's a great place to start. If you've read a lot of other sales books, don't spend the money.An additional note: I'm getting a little frustrated with the fact that there are more and more books loaded with compensated reviewers on Amazon. Even more frustrating is how it seems like all of these sales self help authors endorse each other every time a book comes out. For example, Jill Koranth endorses seemingly every sales book that hits the market. And in exchange, she gets a shout out to her own stuff somewhere in said endorsed book. Correction. I did research and discovered Aramaic and early Greek transcripts are missing these versus. I’m not new to reading the Bible but new to studying. There are literally versus missing on page 360 John 7:42-7:52 then on page 361 starts John 8: 12-8:20. Where are versus 1-11 of chapter 8? Why are the versus in the other bibles? I have a Hebrew Bible and this Greek study Bible and both have broaden my understanding that one most study not just read to appreciate what and how it was written at that time and in that culture.

I'm glad I purchased the book because I now have the opportunity to read the new testament bible as translated from the Greek to English and seeing how in some situations that the translation in this book is different from the King James version of the bible. This book should be purchased by anyone reading the bible.

This is an interlinear with a built in concordance. The New Testament translation is NRSV. There are Strong's numbers over the Greek texts in the interlinear. Handy and thorough, one of my favorite tools. I own several interlinears, and this one seems to be the handiest. Besides using the book to parse scriptures, you can also use this book to see how other (this one is NRSV) bibles wandered from the earlier translations. I must say that I have been surprised a few times doing that. The NIV has some passages that seem to deviate from their original meanings, especially in the Pauline epistles. A big surprise was how accurate the oft maligned "The Living Bible" was when we did a comparison of different translations of the bible as an exercise in bible study. Who would have thought? I guess that may be why the Catholic church gave The Living Bible an imprimatur which I had always thought curious. Anyway, you can use MacReynolds' book for all sorts of interesting studies like that. I should say that if you are planning to start quoting what the Greek words are, you will still need an understanding of Greek, since the concordance doesn't give you an English pronunciation.

A joy reading the literal word for word translation from the Greek. Example" Baptizo is consistently translated correctly as"immersion" and not transliterated as "baptize" as is done in every English translation, including the New Revised Standard version in the side margins. The English transliteration into baptize is done to accommodate those who sprinkle and pour and has be done so since the earliest English translations.

The translations are so literal that some compound words in Greek are translated into English to show the reader how the word is actually formed. I love to reference Greek words and this concordance is amazing!

Had this book for a long time, and sold it to make room for a move. Bad mistake! Missed it ever since, and so bought another copy. If you preach or teach or are just excited to study God's word, then this is one book that you definitely need!!!

This is a great find for anyone that wants to study the Bible. It's word for word translation straight from the Greek text is amazing. It has brought new life and light to a lot of the scriptures I know from memory and has helped me to understand some of the words used better. For instance,the word faith and believe are always translated 'trust' in the Greek. I'm glad I found this.

I use this Bible at those critical moments when the original intent is not so clear. I have others that translate to the original text next to english, but I would say this is my best in terms of literal meaning and great for an exhaustive study.
