About the Author
Mark W. McGinnis is an artist and writer. He was a professor of art for thirty years at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He now resides in Boise, Idaho, and his primary media are acrylic and black ink. His interdisciplinary approach to art in the past has included paintings, artist’s books, sculpture, printmaking, installation, video, performance, essays, and interviews. The research orientation of his work has led to projects of exploration and inquiry into a range of subjects including the extinction of species, the Snake River Basin, the literature of India and Japan, world religions, religious elders, economic evolution, foreign policy, nuclear weaponry, Native American history, and explorers of the “New World.” His projects have been shown in more than 120 solo exhibitions.

Once again Mark McGinnis puts on display his masterful watercolors illustrating classic stories, in this instance from the Taoist tradition. Like his similar work with the Buddhist Jataka tales, this luminous book retells stories in a way that can be read to children and still keep the attention of adults, and the art alone is well worth the price of the volume.
THis is a beautiful book. I gave it as a gift at Christmas & now I want my own copy!

Great book for my granddaughter
The book has an excellent quality and presentation by Shambala Publications, Inc. The content is exquisite, on the one hand the magnificent illustrations that build the soul, on the other the stories that we can share as a family to reflect and deepen our experiences of daily life. A good book to create moments that strengthen wisdom and family unity. Also to develop deep values, that touch our spiritual aspect, to be more integral and to experience greater satisfaction in life.
